Lives Molested: A new study by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention surprisingly discovered that 16% of adult men were sexually molested as children and that 38% of the perpetrators were female. 25% of adult women reported being molested, 94% of the time by males. Molestation victims had higher rates of substance abuse, mental illness and troubled marriages. They were twice as likely to attempt suicide and 40%-50% more likely to have marital and relational problems. The study surveyed over 17,300 San Diego members of the Kaiser Permanente Health Plan between ‘95 and ‘97. (Pastor’s weekly Briefing 6/3/05)
