Religious People Are More Generous with their time and money, according to a national survey. Independent Sector, a nonprofit coalition, found that people who attended religious services regularly gave over twice as much as others on average last year—$2,151 compared to $964. They also volunteered at a much higher rate—54% versus 32% from non-religious families. Overall, 89% of American adults gave to some form of charity last year, while 44% volunteered. (PWB 11/9/01)
