Changing Researchers at the University of Chicago report that only 26% of American households are now comprised of married couples with children, compared to 45% in the early ‘70’s. Likewise, married couples with children under 18 living at home dropped from 50% to 36% over the same time span. Other findings are:
56% of adults are married, compared with nearly 75% in ’72.
