Our congregation hosted a Red Cross blood drive on a recent Sunday morning that started before and continued during our various assemblies. I tried to give blood before the worship assembly. They rejected my offer! I had to answer a long series of questions about personal health, relationships, possible exposures to infection, and places I had visited the previous 12 months. It seems I had been to an area of Mexico that was off limits if you want to give blood. So, my blood was not acceptable they said, "possibly contaminated."
Oh, if the Red Cross only knew how true was it’s judgment about this sinful preacher’s contaminated blood! If they knew only a little of what God knows of the "places" I have been, the things I have thought and done, the "infection" to which I have been exposed, then they would know that God’s judgment about my blood (and yours) is doubly true.
Spiritually speaking, our blood is not just "possibly contaminated," but certainly so. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus ... through his (pure and uncontaminated) blood." Romans 3:23-25.
