Now, it’s tempting to think that you and I don’t have too many things. We only have what we need to live comfortably. That was the goal you and I were sold a long time ago. Is the goal of a Jesus Follower to have a comfortable life? Where do you find that in God’s Word? Last week, one of the speakers at the pastor’s retreat said this: “Jesus told us to take up our cross, not our mattress.” Could our pursuit of comfort for all these decades be a major obstacle to becoming like Christ?
