He didn't have to go through Samaria. The road was longer. The people were despised. No respectable rabbi would have taken that route. But the text says He MUST needs go through Samaria. Not could. Not should. MUST. Because there was a woman at a well who had been through five husbands and still came up empty. Jesus had an appointment with her destiny. He didn't wait for her to clean herself up. He sat down at her well. At noon. In the heat of the day. And He asked her for a drink.
