Several years ago I read a headline straight out of the heart of Africa, a story that grips your heart and soul. It is the story of a 12-year-old girl, stolen from her village, snatched by cruel men who beat her, tormented her, and planned to sell her into the world of human trafficking. She was helpless, her spirit battered, her cries for help echoed in the night.
This girl, in her desperation, cried out for rescue. Then, out of the wild, untamed corners of the savannah, redemption roared in—literally! It was that night that three lions, majestic and fierce, charged onto the scene. These weren’t tame pets; they were untamed kings of the wild, and they scattered those kidnappers like dust in the wind. Can you imagine it? It is reported that those lions didn’t just drive off the danger; they stayed there surrounding the girl and stood guard over her, their eyes like sentinels, keeping her safe until help arrived. When the authorities showed up, those lions just casually walked off and disappeared into the thick brush and trees their job done, their mission complete.
Now, friends, this is a picture of our God, the Lion of Judah! When Jonah cried out from the depths, God didn’t just hear—he acted, delivering Jonah from the belly of the fish. And when we cry out to Him in our darkest hour, He comes rushing in, mighty to save. Zephaniah 3:17 tells us, “The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save.” He doesn’t always send lions, but He always sends deliverance to the faithful. Maybe you’re in a pit today, feeling the enemy’s grip tightening. Cry out to Him! Your victory isn’t in your strength—it’s in the Lord who guards you until the rescue comes. Trust Him, folks. He’s never late, and His power never fails!
