A bit of an aside, when we were in Sri Lanka, I had the opportunity to attend the opening of one of the well projects in the east. Rochelle went to all of them because she ran the projects. The reason these wells were being placed in villages was because many people in the East didn’t have a good water supply as it’s the dry part of the country. The water quality that they did have was very poor and this led to chronic kidney disease and a low life expectancy. So, with money from The Salvation Army in Scandinavia and Germany at that time, 18 wells and top quality treatment plants had drilled and built. I was asked to bring a message to the village at the well opening, the village was a Buddhist one.
Part of the message that I felt God was telling me to share more than any other part of my message was the verse; “You, Lord, hear the desire of the afflicted; you encourage them, and you listen to their cry,” Psalm 10:17. After I spoke the Gramsevika, who was the Village Head approached me and told me that she now believed in my God because of that verse. It’s good to remember that knowing scripture and being led to share certain scriptures can be life and eternity changing for those who hear it.
