Church Without Mothers
With Mother’s Day soon approaching, I pondered this thought…
“What would the church be like if there were no mothers?”
If the church had no mothers, there would be fewer children
to share their embracing hugs and kisses which warm our hearts.
If the church had no mothers, the hymns would be less graceful,
poetry would be less tasteful and praises would simply be dull.
If there were no mothers, it is doubtful there would be found
the variety of beautiful flowers adorning our drab sanctuary.
If there were no mothers, we wouldn’t witness as many tender tears…
nor would we enjoy the rewards of their lovely, spoken, heartbroken prayers.
If the church had no mothers, we would miss the voices in the choir
and our worship would be robbed of their illuminating smiles.
If there were no mothers, kind, angelic, friendly faces would be rare,
and their tender handshakes would certainly be missed.
What would church be like if there were no mothers?
I’m glad we will never have to find out.
For they are in our presence, enriching our days;
They are God’s presents blessing in many ways.
If you’re glad the church has mothers,
Please join me as I say:
“Thank God for mothers…
And Happy Mother’s Day!”
