Satan hates God and everything and everyone in the Kingdom of God. He fights the Kingdom on a daily basis and will continue to try to stop the Gospel from spreading (I Thess. 2:18, Ephesians 6:11-12).
Paul described the condition of all of those who are unbelievers and living in the Kingdom of darkness.
1. They are LOST (Luke 19:10). Literally, they are “perishing” (I Cor. 1:18). The word “perishing” does not mean extinction, it is a “loss of being”. Unbelievers are not destroyed in eternity, they live in “eternal death” (Matthew 25:41 – words of Jesus).
2. The Gospel is HIDDEN to them. They lived in a “veiled” state like Israel (II Cor. 3:12-18). They can be saved, but God Himself has to reveal the light to them like he did in the case of Saul of Tarsus (Acts 9).
Remember, Jesus reminded us that “no one can come to the Father unless the Spirit draws him” (John 6:44).
3. Their minds have been BLINDED BY SATAN. The Gospel is foolishness to unbelievers (I Cor. 1:23). The Jews believed that the Messiah was coming as a political warrior and the Greeks believed that one who was crucified was a moral offense to the world.
4. They are lost and perishing because they do not BELIEVE ON CHRIST (Acts 16:31). Their unbelief puts them in a position of condemnation before a holy God who has provided a means of salvation in Jesus (John 3:16-18).
