When my grandchildren were young, introduced them to my dog, Chuey. They were not well received by the old Chow. The dog would stalk around and shoot dirty looks when the kids were present. He finally got used to them and now pays them no attention.
The other day, we were all in the back yard. The kids were running around and I was drinking a cup of coffee and petting Chuey.
Jordane walked up and asked, “Do you love Chuey?”
I said, “I sure do.”
Jordane responded in a challenging tone, “Why?”
I replied, “He's a good dog and he’s been around for 11 years.”
“You love him better than you love us”, Jordane said.
“No, I don’t!”
“Yes, you do!”
“Well, he minds better than you.” Whoops.
It shamed me that I had allowed my tongue to injure my beautiful granddaughter over a dog.
