Sometimes a thing has to be repeated until we hear and understand.A man asked his physician what to do about his wife’s hearing, which he felt was deteriorating. The doctor suggested a little test, which the man applied. He went home and found his wife working at the kitchen sink. Just inside the kitchen door he asked, “What’s for supper tonight?” No response. He moved halfway across the kitchen and repeated his question. Same lack of response.

Then he walked right up behind his wife and asked, “What’s for supper tonight?” She replied, “Meatloaf, mashed potatoes and English peas, just as I said the first two times you asked.”

That was particularly true of God’s dealing with Israel.
