I remember years ago a young woman who was divorced, then “shacked up” with a man (Can we use the old term, instead of using those sanitized words, “She had an affair”?). When challenged she said, ‘It’s not like I was a virgin.” This woman was brought up in a conservative church yet implied that, once she had been married, anything goes!

I know a senior widow in another city, an active member of an historic church, who began cohabiting with a man. (I’ll use the mild term this time instead of the offensive one.) She said she had prayed for a godly man, and this one knelt and prayed each night before retiring.

When challenged about the relationship she said, “It’s not like we are teenagers.” And she is in the majority!
