In the days when street preachers were a common sight in New York City a man named Charlie King could sometimes be seen running around his hat, which was placed on a street corner near Times Square, shouting, “It’s alive! It’s alive!” When a crowd gathered he would pick up his hat, under which was a Bible and from which he would proceed to preach the gospel.
