I met at friend at Perkins Restaurant. I arrived first and told the host a friend was coming. The helpful young host offered to place me at a table beside the reception stand, so my friend could see me upon entering. When I mentioned the cold draft, the host offered to seat us in the P.D.R., a separate room in the back.

I asked what that stood for, and he replied, "I don’t know what it stands for, but I know that’s what it’s called." After placing our order, I called the young man back and said, "How much would you bet that “P.D.R.” stands for private dining room?" He smiled and replied, "I’ll bet you’ve been sitting here all this time trying to figure that out."
