Teach Creationism: 64% of Americans say that creationism should be taught alongside evolution in public schools according to a new Pew Forum on Religion poll. 38% favor replacing evolution with creationism. The poll found that 42% hold strict creationist views (living things have existed in their present form since the beginning of time). In contrast, 48% believe humans evolved over time, but of those, 18% say evolution was “guided by a supreme being,” and 26% that evolution occurred through natural selection. (NY Times 8/30/05)
