The Human Rights Commission of Saskatchewan Canada ruled last month (July, 2001) that even references to biblical passages that condemn homosexuality could be seen as "hate speech." The Saskatoon Star Phoenix newspaper and Hugh Owens of Regina were ordered to pay $1,500 to 3 homosexual activists for publishing an advertisement, which included references to passages in Romans, Leviticus, and 1 Corinthians. Owens, who placed the ad, is also barred from displaying a bumper sticker that has similar wording. (PWB 8/10/01)
