Catching The Flu

Catching The Flu is definitely dangerous! Perhaps you have read about the flu epidemic that swept the world in 1918? It killed 50 million people. One fifth of the world’s population. It spread rapidly because it was so contagious and people didn’t know what it was or how to prevent it.
I am thinking of another kind of flu today. Not a flu that will kill but a flu that will heal! It will heal the whole world if it spreads rapidly enough.
I call it the; Spiritual Flu. The flu of 1918 came to be known as the Spanish Flu-it killed. The flu that I pray, will break out in this century is the flu that will heal-and I describe it like this:
F...Fullness of the Holy Spirit. L... Love for the unsaved. U... unity in the greatest cause-the spreading of the Gospel!
This flu happened once before in human history, about 2000 years ago.
It happened on a Jewish holy day called; ‘Pentecost.’
And the late scholar, H. P. Huges said this about it-“Pentecost delivered the apostles from the three hinderences to the progress of the Gospel- cowardice, selfishness, and ignorance. Catch the spirit of the apostles and you will save the world” ( quote found in the Preachers Complete Homilectical Commentary.)
