About Terry
  • Education: “Theological Training” – 83 credit hours with “Berean University” out of the “Assembly of God’s School” in Springfield, MO.
  • Experience: Walking with the Lord Jesus since August 1987. Over 30 years preaching the Word, writing Biblical teachings with articles on three different Bible Teaching websites, The Norton Telegram (secular paper) along with Christian radio spots on KQNK Radio (secular radio station). Raised money for ministries such as “Dave Roever and Ass.; World Wide Pictures, Inc. and the Norton County Ministerial Alliance. Spoken in many different Evangelical churches for 30+ years. Our Christian articles have over 1,500,000 readings equipping preachers all over the world to preach and teach the Word of God. For over 30 years CrossRoads Messages has gotten Christian teachings outside the church walls into secular homes in Norton, County Ks. as well as a large area in North West and Norton Central Ks, at one time reaching 3,600 homes weekly. Terry is founder of CrossRoads Messages Website which is managed by his wonderful helpmate (wife), Pennie Rae Laughlin (http://standatthecrossroads.com/). All his written articles can be read for FREE.
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: Pray that the Lord will give you a powerful thirst and hunger for the Word of God. Know that much time is spent in prayerful study of God’s Word before these messages are preached or sent out in print.
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: “Girding Up the Local Church”
  • One of my favorite illustrations: Abraham Lincoln observing a slave auction. Standing on the auction block was a beautiful black woman. Abraham could tell that those bidding on her only wanted her as a play toy to satisfy the lust. Abraham out bid everyone, purchased this beautiful woman, and quickly set her free. Her response, she did not want her freedom, but wanted to become his bond-servant. Christ saw us in slavery to sin, the flesh, the world and the devil wanted us only for their satisfaction, yet Christ purchased us with the highest price and gives us the option to choose this day whom we will serve.
  • Family: A great Biblical help-mate, Pennie Rae, she is my best friend, lover, protectress and encourager – Five wonderful boys; Logan, Derek, Jared, Caleb, and Josiah.
  • What my parents think of my sermons: Mother-in-law (went home to be with the Lord) loved them because all of my messages are birthed from God’s Word. Mother (home with the Lord) supported them.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: “Preach the Word” and do not let my focus be on what my criticizers say nor on the praises I get from people who are exposed to the ministry the Lord gave me, let my fear and trembling be before Him and only seek His praise.
  • Books that have had an impact: Truthfully – the Written Word of God. I did not learn how to read well until the Lord gave me a powerful thirst and hunger for the Word of God in October of 1987.
  • Hobbies: NONE –
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: Surrender, Not Commitment
  • Something funny that happened while preaching: Was speaking a message and praying that the Lord would really use this message to bring people into a real relationship with Christ Jesus. After the message a lady met me at the door and said, “At least you really look nice in your suit.”
  • What I want on my tombstone: “Surrendered to the Lord’s Will”
