About John
  • Education: I have completed my Master of Divinity in 1993, and I look forward to being able to begin my PhD in Leadership Studies.
  • Experience: I have refined my skill as a public speaker for 22 years. I have spent 14 years in Youth Ministry and about 5 years as a Senior Pastor. I have been on overseas missions trips, and I plan on going to Mexico next summer.
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: These messages are just an outline, and I definitely add to or take away from the written form. I am a very demonstrative preacher, and the service itself is better than the written outline
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: I would have to say the series I did on Revelation opened my eyes to things that I did not see before.
  • Family: My wife (Jeanette) and I have four kids that range in age from 11 to 15 months. We love raising our kids in a small town, and in a town where there is only one school.
  • What my parents think of my sermons: My Mom likes my messages
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: My wife thinks I always do a good job, but if I did real well she will tell me
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: "If you haven’t struck oil in 30 minutes, quit boring!"
  • Books that have had an impact: "Simple Church" Eric Geiger and Thom Rainier "Spiritual Leadership" Henry Blackaby "Riven" Jerry Jenkins "Heaven" Randy Alcorn "Deception" Randy Alcorn "Safely Home" Randy Alcorn "Return to Holly Springs" Jan Karon
  • Hobbies: I like to read, or go to a bookstore and browse through all the books.
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: "God is willing that none should perish, but that all should come to repentance."
  • Something funny that happened while preaching: I was preaching in a church in Oregon, and my daughter brought her favorite doll to church. This was a Princess Barbie doll that sang. In the middle of my sermon, she pressed the doll, as the doll proceeded to sing "I’m just like you, you’re just like me." What could I do? I just kept preaching.
  • What I want on my tombstone: He Pleased God
