  • One of my favorite illustrations: When I was a chaplain for a Basic Training Battalion, one of our soldiers had her tennis-shoes stolen, meaning she was doing PT (running) in combat boots--the result was blisters on top of blisters. Finally, after a few days of this, she lay in her bunk crying and remembered what she heard in Sunday school as a little girl(the mother of her mom’s boyfriend had taken her).
