• Sermon or series that made a difference: Kingdom Authority by Adrian Rogers
• One of my favorite illustrations: There was once a young boy who went to spend the week with his grandfather on the farm. While walking around he noticed the chickens, they were scratching and playing around. The little lad said, “They ain’t got it”. Next he saw a colt in the field playing and kicking up its heel’s to which he replied, “He ain’t got it”. After examining all of the animals on his grandfather’s farm and see that none of them had “it”, this boy finally found the old donkey in the barn. When he saw the donkey’s long, frowning face and the way that the donkey just stood there he screamed for his grandfather to come quick. “I found it, I found it” the boy kept yelling. When his grandfather asked what he had found he said, “Pawpaw, I found an animal that has the same kind of religion that you have.”
• Family: Wife and 3 Daughters, 2 son-in-laws and 2 granddaughters
• What my parents think of my sermons: My dad, a bi-vocational minister, only heard me preach once before he went to Glory and before my ordination. My mom was around for about 25 years of my ministry and never said anything negative to me about any sermon she heard me preach (of course I was her baby :-)
• What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: She has always been very supportive of my preaching, my sermons, and my delivery. If something doesn't work she will tell me but those are few and far between.
• Best advice given to me about preaching: "The mind will only comprehend what the seat will endure." From my Dad
• Books that have had an impact: "What Every Christian Ought to Know" by Adrian Rodgers; "Screwtape Letters" and "Mere Christianity" by C. S. Lewis; "The Ragamuffin Gospel" by Brennan Manning; "What Was I Thinking: Things I've Learned Since I knew It All" by Steve Brown; "Pastor's Handbook" by John Bisagno
• Hobbies: Enjoy spending time with family and friends. Also, I really enjoy sports, but now it's more about watching them than playing them. Die-hard Mississippi State Bulldog and New Orleans Saints fan.
• If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: Without Jesus Your Eternity Will Be Hell!
• What I want on my tombstone: Placed my Faith in Christ as a young boy, served Him as a young man, Learned more about Him as I grew older, Loved Him so much that I've gone home with Him.
