Though not much is known about the disciple called Simon the Zealot, this video imagines him as one who fought against the Roman empire until he became a follower of Jesus. As he remembers the Final Supper, Simon was unsettled by Jesus’ words, “This is my blood of the covenant, poured out for many.” He wrestles with his lifelong belief that the Messiah was coming to destroy his enemies, though Jesus has told the disciples to love their enemies.
