Transformed by Spoken Truth: Evangelism

I want us to explore the transformative power of spoken truth in the context of evangelism.

As disciples of Jesus, we are called to share the life-changing message of the Gospel with others, and through our words, God can work to transform hearts and lives.

I want us to delve into three key points that highlight the importance and impact of evangelism in our lives and the lives of the lost.

Point 1: The Mandate to Share the Gospel

Matthew 28:19-20 (NLT) "Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

Jesus' Great Commission commands us to go and make disciples of all nations.

This mandate underscores the central role of evangelism in the Christian life.

It is our responsibility and privilege to share the Gospel with others, introducing them to the transformative power of Christ.

What does it mean to make disciples?

We are called to tell others the truth of the Gospel.

Jesus came to save us from our sin and restore our relationship with God.

All of us need to repent and accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour, when we do, we are brought from darkness into light.

All of us, are disciples, we learn from the Word of God, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit to live in the way that God has planned for us.

Disciples are called to serve God and each other.

Our discipleship includes us effectively sharing the Gospel with those around us, so that others may enter into a saving relationship with Jesus.

Evangelism is essential for the growth of the Kingdom of God because disciples make disciples.

Point 2: The Power of Spoken Truth

Romans 10:14-15 (NLT) "But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, 'How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!'"

This passage highlights the necessity of verbal proclamation in the process of salvation. People cannot believe in Jesus unless they hear about Him, and they cannot hear without someone preaching to them. God has chosen to use human instruments to communicate His truth and bring about transformation in hearts.

Point 3: The Transformational Impact

1 Thessalonians 1:5 (NLT) "For when we brought you the Good News, it was not only with words but also with power, for the Holy Spirit gave you full assurance that what we said was true. And you know of our concern for you from the way we lived when we were with you."

Effective evangelism involves more than just words; it also entails a demonstration of the Gospel through our lives.

As we share the truth verbally, the Holy Spirit works in tandem, confirming the message with power and conviction.

Our actions should align with our words, reflecting the transformative impact of the Gospel in our own lives.

Let us be reminded of the privilege and responsibility we have as disciples to share the life-changing message of the Gospel with others.

Ask God to reveal how our lives can serve as a testimony to the truth of the Gospel.

Pray that through our spoken truth and transformed lives, God will continue to work in hearts and bring about lasting change for His glory.

Pray that we will demonstrate God's love and compassion to those we seek to evangelize.

Pray that we will be faithful messengers of His love and grace, trusting in the power of the Holy Spirit to bring about transformation in the lives of those we encounter.

Pray that we would have opportunities to share the truth of the Gospel with those who attend.

Pray for our families, friends, neighbours.
