Youth Sermon: The Opening of the Seven Seals

Introduction

Hey guys, we're diving into some pretty intense stuff today. We're going to talk about the future, about some crazy things that are going to happen, and about how we can be ready for it. We're looking at Revelation 6, where John sees some wild visions of what's to come.

Imagine you're playing a video game, and you've got this secret level that's locked. You can't get to it until you've completed all the other levels. That's kind of like what's happening in Revelation. God's got this scroll, and it's sealed up tight. Only Jesus, the Lamb, can open it.

God's got this scroll, and it's sealed up tight. Only Jesus, the Lamb, can open it.

Revelation 6

So, Jesus starts opening these seals, and all kinds of stuff starts happening. There are horses and riders, and they're bringing war, famine, and death. It's like the worst parts of the game, where everything is going wrong. But here's the thing: this isn't a game. This is real life, and it's going to happen.

But then, the fifth seal is opened, and we see people who have been killed for their faith. They're in heaven, and they're asking God when He's going to make things right. They're given white robes, which is like God's way of saying, "Hang on, I've got this. Justice is coming."

Then the sixth seal is opened, and there's a massive earthquake. The sun goes dark, the moon turns red, and stars fall from the sky. People are so scared they're hiding in caves and asking the mountains to fall on them. They know this is God's wrath, and they can't handle it.

Conclusion

So, what does this mean for us? It means we need to be ready. We need to have our faith in Jesus, because He's the only one who can save us from what's coming. We need to be like those people under the altar, who stayed faithful to Jesus no matter what.

Let's pray. God, thank you for showing us what's to come. Help us to be ready. Help us to stay faithful to you, no matter what. And thank you for Jesus, who saves us from your wrath. Amen.
