The Blessings of the Blood of Jesus

Study Text: John 6: 53 - 56

Introduction:

- Many Christians either do not know or forget the blessings that we receive through the blood of Christ.

- We need a clear understanding from the scriptures, the blessings that we receive through the blood of Christ so that we can enjoy those blessings that God has for us.

- The following are the blessings that God has graciously granted us through the blood of Jesus:

1. Cleansing of Sins

- Revelation 1:5-6 ... To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, .. to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

- Jesus cleansed us from the stain and the guilt of sin by washing us in His own blood.

- There are two kinds of sin that the blood of Jesus deals with powerfully.

a. The known sin; sins in our lives that we are aware of.

- When we become conscious that we have committed a sin, we can appropriate the cleansing power of the blood of Jesus by confessing our sins through godly sorrow produced in our heart due to the sins.

- 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

- To confess means to admit it, take responsibility for it, no excuses, and no blaming someone else for what we have done.

b. The unknown sin; sins in our lives that we are not aware of.

- There are so many sins in our lives that we are not aware of till the Holy Spirit reveals them to us. How can you be cleansed of something that you cannot even confess because you are unaware of it?

- We have the solution in 1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

- To walk in the light is to be obedient to the truth God has already revealed in His words. The natural result of walking in the light is that as Christians we will enjoy fellowship with other Christians.

- So the blood of Jesus cleanses us from sin that we know about when we confess it. And it cleanses us from sin that we are not aware of as we walk in the light.

2. Confidence to Access God's Presence.

- Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

- God's presence was regarded as very holy, and access into God's presence was extremely limited.

- But the moment Jesus died, the blood of Jesus had bought for us free access into the holy presence of God, as indicated in Hebrews 10:19 Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Christ.

3. Clearance from the Hold of Satan:

- Eph 1:7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.

- We were under the bondage of Satan because of our sin, and became free because Christ paid for our freedom by His blood.

- That act of paying a price in exchange for your life is what we call redemption. 1 John 5:19 ... the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one.

- Except the blood of Jesus paid the full price to redeem us, there is no way we could be free from the hold and bondage of the Powers of Darkness. Colossians 1:13.

- Also in Acts 20:28 Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.

- His blood has bought us over and paid the price for us to be released from the bondage of Satan and the powers of darkness.

4. Cure from All Sicknesses and Diseases

- The Bible says : The chastisement of our peace is upon Him and by His stripes we were healed. 1 Peter 2: 24.

- Christ has made provision for our healings from all manners of sicknesses and diseases, known or unknown, and whether they are of physical or spiritual causes.

- We can possess our Divine healings from sicknesses and diseases of any kind, through a comprehensive faith in the blood of Jesus.

5. Consecration for the Service of the Kingdom

- In 2 Corinthians 5: 17 - 18, it is very clear that after we have been reconciled to God, through the blood of Jesus, we were given the ministry of reconciliation.
