Summary: How to make the Word of God the sword of the spirit in your life, Its not enough that it is in the word, it must be in your heart.

Ephesians 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

Proverbs 13:13 Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed: but he that (feareth) the commandment shall be rewarded.

Feareth:) = to stand in awe of, reverence, honour, respect, To cause astonishment and awe,

1) immersion, submersion (of vessels sunk) to dip repeatedly

2) to cleanse by dipping or submerging, to wash, to make clean with water, to wash one’s self, bathe

Eph 5:26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

3) to overwhelm (This is the renewing of the mind)- the old mind must become overwhelmed =transformed by the renewing of the mind

Ephesians 4:23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

Ro 10:17 Faith cometh by hearing and hearing, and hearing).

This process is affected by repeatedly applying Gods word and Gods thoughts in the place of our own.

James 1:25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and (continueth) therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

(This is what is known as abiding in the word).

John 15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

*The word of God is only the sword of the spirit in your behalf when it is coming out of your spirit, Only that word which has taken root in your spirit producing faith has any power when it comes out of your mouth. (Quoting scriptures is not the sword of the spirit).

2 Cor 3:6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

*The word of God will never be the sword of the spirit in your behalf until it becomes God speaking to you personally, It must become your life source.

Mt 4:4 Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

The word is a lamp and a light (Ps 119:105)

The word is health to our flesh (Pro 4:22)

The word is food for the spirit - Jer 15:16 Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.

The word is milk to the baby (1Pet 2:24) As new born babes desire the sincere milk of the word.

The word is meat for the men:

(Heb 5:14) Strong meat belongeth to those who have their senses excercised by reason of use to discern both good and evil.

The word is a devouring fire (Jer 5:14)

The word is a crushing hammer (Jer 23:29)

The word is Divinely inspired (All scripture is given by inspiration of God )-2Tim 3:16

The word is a saving power power (Ro 1:16) – the power of God unto salvation)

Jesus said: Jn 6:63 The words that I speak unto thee they are spirit and they are life.

Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue:

*But there is a connector here that we cannot leave out:

If you want Gods word to be the sword of the spirit for you then there is something you have to do.

#1 You have to put it in your heart = Your spirit, Only that which comes out of your heart= spirit can be the sword of the spirit.

Mt 12:34-35

34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.

God Promised Joshua Success in every endeavor of his life, But there was a condition,

Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

The only words that he promises will be life and health are those words that come out of your heart=(spirit)

Pro 4:20-23

20 My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.

21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; (keep them in the midst of thine heart).

22 life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
