Emphasize the necessity of faith in Jesus Christ, the power of the Gospel, and the promise of salvation that comes through hearing and believing in the Word of God.

Introduction

Good morning, church family! Today, we are going to dive into an essential topic for every believer – The Necessity of Faith in Jesus Christ, The Power of the Gospel, and The Promise of Salvation.

As we explore this message together, remember this quote from C.S. Lewis: "I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else."

Let's read our Scripture passage for today from Romans 10:13-17:

"13 for, 'Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.'

14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: 'How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!'

16 But not all the Israelites accepted the good news. For Isaiah says, 'Lord, who has believed our message?' 17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ."

The Necessity of Faith in Jesus Christ

It is through faith in Jesus Christ that we are saved, and it is by faith that we are able to access the grace and mercy of God.

This faith is not just a mere intellectual assent to the existence of God or the historical reality of Jesus, but rather, it is a deep, personal trust in Jesus as our Lord and Savior.

This trust is essential for our salvation, as it is through faith that we are able to receive the forgiveness of our sins and the gift of eternal life.

Our own efforts and good works are insufficient for our salvation.

The Bible teaches that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23), and that the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23).

No matter how hard we try, we cannot earn our way into heaven or make ourselves right with God through our own efforts.

It is only through faith in Jesus Christ that we can be saved, as He is the only one who has lived a sinless life and paid the penalty for our sins through His death on the cross.

Another aspect is the transformative power that faith has in our lives.

When we place our trust in Jesus, we are not only forgiven of our sins, but we also become new creations in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17).

This means that our old sinful nature is replaced with a new nature that is characterized by the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23).

This transformation is not something that we can achieve on our own, but it is a work of God in our lives as we trust in Jesus Christ.

Faith in Jesus Christ is also necessary because it is the means by which we are able to have a personal relationship with God.

Jesus Himself said, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6).

It is through faith in Jesus that we are able to approach God with confidence, knowing that we have been reconciled to Him through the blood of Christ (Hebrews 10:19-22).

This relationship with God is not just a distant, impersonal connection, but rather, it is a deep, intimate relationship in which we can know God personally and experience His love, grace, and presence in our lives.

Jesus said, "In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world" (John 16:33).

As we face difficulties and hardships, it is our faith in Jesus Christ that enables us to persevere and find strength in Him.

The apostle Paul wrote, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13).

It is through our faith in Jesus that we are able to experience His power and presence in our lives, enabling us to overcome the obstacles that we face.

Furthermore, faith is necessary for our spiritual growth and maturity.

The apostle Peter wrote, "Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good" (1 Peter 2:2-3).

As we trust in Jesus Christ and rely on His Word, we are able to grow in our understanding of God and His ways, and we are able to become more like Christ in our thoughts, attitudes, and actions.

This process of spiritual growth is not something that happens automatically or without effort, but it is a result of our faith in Jesus Christ and our commitment to follow Him.

Paul wrote, "And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19).

As we trust in Jesus Christ and seek to follow Him, we are able to experience the abundant life that He has promised to those who believe in Him (John 10:10).

This abundant life is characterized by joy, peace, and contentment, as well as the assurance of our salvation and the hope of eternal life with God.

The Power of the Gospel

The Gospel, which means "good news," is the story of Jesus Christ's life, death, and resurrection, and how through His sacrifice, we can be reconciled to God and receive eternal life ... View this full PRO sermon free with PRO
