Summary: THE CROSS OF JESUS IS IN DESPERATE NEED OF SOME SERVANT VOLUNTEERS. Who will go? Faith calls us to give our life with love to serve others. Are we kind? Mean?

VOLITIONAL CHOICES? WHO WILL WILLINGLY GO? LOVE SLAVE!

By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com

I have a good magnetic ear ring and a small aul that I use at the end with the LOVE SLAVE.

Text: 1 Peter 5:2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;

*Volitional Choice: the ability or power to make your own decisions, free will, self-determination,

Volunteer for the cross? Come let us seek God to use us to accomplish His work prompted by LOVE and DEVOTION.

*IMPEL: TO CAUSE TO FEEL A STRONG NEED OR DESIRE, to want to work…

TERRY’S HEART QUIT WORKING, THE DOCTORS PLACED AN IMPELLA, and smallest heart pump in the world to assist his heart to pump blood.

Tennessee has been known as the VOLUNTEER STATE for many years. History records this nickname was earned during the WAR OF 1812. As Tennessee played an important role men volunteer to be soldiers.

Isaiah 6:8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.

Isaiah 6:8 (MSG) And then I heard the voice of the Master: "Whom shall I send? Who will go for us?" I spoke up, "I'll go. Send me!"

I AM A SPECIAL CHOSEN VESSEL? POTENTIAL MIGHT BE WHERE THE RUBBER MEETS THE ROAD…

I was listening to this world known pastor and evangelist was telling a story of the SHORTEST LIVED EMPLOYEE in his tenure. The resumes had been searched and this young man came with the all the degrees. His resume was very impressive. So the hiring committee called him and he desired a rather large salary package but they were so impressed they decided he was worth it. So the hired the young talented minister. He was at his job a little late. He sat in this large padded seat reserved for special guess. He put his legs up high in another chair and he oozed with great confidence. He folded his hands behind his headed. He watched all the staff carrying chairs and sitting them up in straight rows. The famous pastor the church of thousands and his staff was

Putting the chairs out and they were sweating. The new young hire asked one of the ladies to stop to bring him some hot coffee with sugar and cream. The world know pastor talked to the new employee. The young man said: I AM HERE,TO BE A LEADER. The pastor said: START BY GRABBING THOSE CHAIRS AND SET THEM UP. The young preacher said: SIR, YOU MUST NOT HAVE HEARD ME, I CAME HERE TO BE A LEADER. Don’t you get it? The Pastor replied: I HEARD YOU, YOU MUST NOT GET IT, YOU MUST BE WILLING TO SERVE TO LEAD. YOU ARE NOT QUALIFIED TO BE A LEADER IN THIS CHURCH. I AM SORRY, YOU ARE FIRED, TERMINATED, 5 MINUTES? The young man stomped out of the church and said: I WAS NOT CALLED TO SIT UP CHAIRS!

WHO WILL GO? WILL WE BE WILLING TO WHATEVER IT TAKES?

Isaiah 6:8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.

Isaiah 6:8 (MSG) And then I heard the voice of the Master: "Whom shall I send? Who will go for us?" I spoke up, "I'll go. Send me!"

SOMETIMES WE CANNOT UNDERSTAND WHAT THE REALITY OF THE MOMENT CAN BE HIDING… YOU DON’T SEE OR KNOW THE IMPORTANCE OF THIS EVENT TODAY… THERE IS A LESSON IN LEADERSHIP AND SERVANTHOOD…

John 13:4 He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself. 5 After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded. 6 Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet? 7 Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.

8 Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me. 9 Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.

CAN WE UNDERSTAND THAT SERVANTHOOD CAN REVEAL THE REAL HEART OF THE MATTER? THE MOTHER’S HEART IS REVEALED…

YOUR ATTITUDES WILL REVEAL YOUR HEART… Two harlots? (You don’t have to read all of this, just summary) THE REAL MOTHER’S HEART WILL BE REVEALED… She rather lose her son than to see him die.

1 Kings 3:16 Then came there two women, that were harlots, unto the king, and stood before him.

17 And the one woman said, O my lord, I and this woman dwell in one house; and I was delivered of a child with her in the house. 18 And it came to pass the third day after that I was delivered, that this woman was delivered also: and we were together; there was no stranger with us in the house, save we two in the house. 19 And this woman's child died in the night; because she overlaid it. 20 And she arose at midnight, and took my son from beside me, while thine handmaid slept, and laid it in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom. 21 And when I rose in the morning to give my child suck, behold, it was dead: but when I had considered it in the morning, behold, it was not my son, which I did bear.

22 And the other woman said, Nay; but the living is my son, and the dead is thy son. And this said, No; but the dead is thy son, and the living is my son. Thus they spake before the king. 23 Then said the king, The one saith, This is my son that liveth, and thy son is the dead: and the other saith, Nay; but thy son is the dead, and my son is the living. 24 And the king said, Bring me a sword. And they brought a sword before the king. 25 And the king said, Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other. 26 Then spake the woman whose the living child was unto the king, for her bowels yearned upon her son, and she said, O my lord, give her the living child, and in no wise slay it. But the other said, Let it be neither mine nor thine, but divide it. 27 Then the king answered and said, Give her the living child, and in no wise slay it: she is the mother thereof. 28 And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king: for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to do judgment.

There was a difficult case before KING SOLOMON … TWO WOMEN CLAIMING THE SAME BABY? The answer was found when the true feelings and relationships was revealing by SUGGESTING THE IDEA OF CUTTING THE BABY IN TWO PIECES?

NAOMI HAD A DIFFICULT LIFE… HER HUSBAND AND SONS DIED… I WENT OUT FULL AND CAME BACK EMPTY… BUT A SERVANT GIRL VOLUNTEERS AND BECOMES A VESSEL IN GOD’S HANDS…

Ruth 1:16 And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:

Ruth 2:2 And Ruth the Moabitess said unto Naomi, Let me now go to the field, and glean ears of corn after him in whose sight I shall find grace. And she said unto her, Go, my daughter.

RUTH MARRIES OBED… NAOMI HOLDS OBED… OBED HAS A SON NAMED JESSIE … JESSIE HAS A SON NAMED DAVID… RUTH’S SERVANT’S HEART MAKES HER OF THE LINAGE OF JESUS CHRIST… WOW, IS THERE A REWARD FOR FINDING

DO WE REALLY UNDERSTAND THOSE THAT WORSHIP GOD AND BECOME PRAISERS ARE VOLUNTEERS

Judges 5:2 Praise ye the LORD for the avenging of Israel, when the people willingly offered themselves. 3 Hear, O ye kings; give ear, O ye princes; I, even I, will sing unto the LORD; I will sing praise to the LORD God of Israel.

JUDAH WAS THE PRAISERS… KING WAS SMART ENOUGH TO KNOW PRAISE BEFORE…

2 Chronicles 20:17 Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you.

2 Chronicles 20:21 And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the LORD, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the LORD; for his mercy endureth for ever. 22 And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.

LET US UNDERSTAND IMPEL, VOLITIONAL CHOICE… I GLADLY GIVE MYSELF TO THE MASTER…FOREVER…

I HAVE A MAGNETIC EAR RING AND A AUL. I promise myself that I will sustain a willing spirit to serve Jesus Christ all my days… willingly, volunteering my life for His work….

THE EAR? The right ear … the priest put a drop of blood and oil on the right ear… When a leper was fully cleansed the priest put a drop of blood and oil on the cleansed man’s ear…

Exodus 21:4 If his master have given him a wife, and she have born him sons or daughters; the wife and her children shall be her master's, and he shall go out by himself. 5 And if the servant shall plainly say, I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free: 6 Then his master shall bring him unto the judges; he shall also bring him to the door, or unto the door post; and his master shall bore his ear through with an aul; and he shall serve him for ever.

CONCLUSION: Elisha left his farm to follow Elijah. Rebekah left her home to go marry a man she had never met… Isaac. Joseph gave his reputation. Mary volunteered to give her body to have a baby. WILL YOU GIVE A WILLING MIND FOR THE CROSS?

2 Corinthians 8:12 For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.
