Summary: Our God Reigns

Psalm 93 Our God Reigns

1. THE REIGN OF GOD

The Mystery of His Reign - 1 The Lord reigneth,

The Majesty of His Reign - he is clothed with majesty;

The Might of His Reign - the Lord is clothed with strength,

The Merit of His Reign - wherewith he hath girded himself:

The Meaning of His Reign - the world also is stablished,

The Management of His Reign - that it cannot be moved.

The Maintenance of His Reign - 2 Thy throne is established of old:

The Measure of His Reign - thou art from everlasting.

Psalm 90:2 Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God. Daniel 4:34 And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation:

2. THE RESISTANCE TO GOD

The Reality of this Resistance - 3 The floods have lifted up, O Lord,

The Ranting of this Resistance - the floods have lifted up their voice;

The Rigour of this Resistance - the floods lift up their waves.

The Rashness of this Resistance -

4 The Lord on high is mightier than the noise of many waters

The Rebuke of this Resistance - yea, than the mighty waves of the sea

It will be -

Fair - Isaiah 59:18 According to their deeds, accordingly he will repay,

Furious - fury to his adversaries, recompence to his enemies;

to the islands he will repay recompence.

Fearful - 19 So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west,

and his glory from the rising of the sun.

Faithful - 19 When the enemy shall come in like a flood,

the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.

Final - 20 And the Redeemer shall come to Zion,

and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the Lord.

C. THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD

5 Thy testimonies are very sure: holiness becometh thine house, O Lord, for ever.

We Can Count on -

GOD’S SOVEREIGNTY 1 The Lord reigneth, he is clothed with majesty

GOD’S SUPREMACY - 2 Thy throne is established of old:

GOD’S SYMPATHY - 3 The floods have lifted up, O Lord,

Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

GOD’S SUFFICIENCY - 4 The Lord on high is mightier than the noise of many waters,

(He Calmed the Sea)

GOD’S SINCERITY - 5 Thy testimonies are very sure:

GOD’S SANCTITY - holiness becometh thine house

GOD’S STABILITY - O Lord, for ever
