Summary: With the God-kind of faith in our hearts, we can move any and every insurmountable obstacle in our way.

Zechariah 4:7

“Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain: and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, Grace, grace unto it."

In my sermon "This One's On God", we looked at the preceding verse (vs.6) of our text, we saw how God turns our pressure, our burden and our discouragement into victory by His Spirit – when we cast all our cares on Him.

Today we will look at the power of faith in dealing with insurmountable obstacles.

Again, Zechariah was faced with the daunting task of rebuilding the Temple in Jerusalem as God had commanded. He got very discouraged from the barrage of oppositions and obstacles that kept coming at him. Zechariah’s goal seemed impossible because a GREAT mountain was standing in the way of his progress.

It wasn’t a physical mountain, it was both spiritual and psychological. A mountain is anything that represents difficulty or impossibility in our lives.

Notice God’s description of Zechariah’s mountain – “GREAT MOUNTAIN”, the adjective “great” informs us that this is no ordinary mountain. Even God Himself identified this obstacle as great. God is not afraid call our mountain great because He knows that regardless of the size of the mountain before us, He might and power will crush it down to nothing!

There is a lesson here to learn from the God kind of faith: faith does not negate or deny the facts of a situation, faith acknowledges the truth of God’s word over the facts.

Don't be scared to say “I am sick” or “I am broke” or I am weak”, it is not a negative confession, you are simply stating a fact. But faith will say, “Though I feel sick, i know by His stripes I am healed”, “though I may be broke, i know God supplies all my needs…” etc. Don’t let fear motivate your confession. Real confession is speaking God's word, by faith, from faith, whilst a negative confession is a confession made from fear. Only the word of God can produce faith. Newspapers, textbooks, novels or magazines can't produce faith in your heart, because they don't have life, only the word of God has life and gives life.

"For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." - Hebrews 4:12

When we have faith in God, and not faith in uncles or brothers or business associates and connections, then we possess the God kind of faith. This is the faith that moves small mountains and great mountains.

Whatever the obstacles in your life are right now, regardless of its size, shape, color or longevity, the God kind of faith is the antidote, it will crush it and make it plain.

"For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says." - Mark 11:23

Through your prayer and supplication, your praise, your worship, your adulation of God and your faith-filled confessions of God's word (this is how we shout the shouts of grace, grace!), every great mountain of impossibility, drug addiction, singleness, poverty, sickness, unemployment, job insecurity, bareness, divorce, whatever the name; it shall be made plain before you, and every valley (hidden, oppressed, depressed and repressed potentials) shall be exalted, every crooked path (blurred, broken and twisted vision) shall become straight and the rough edges of your life will be made smoothed out through the power of God’s Spirit – in the Name of Jesus!

Your faith is not against you, your faith is against your mountain! and your mountain shall become plain.
