Introduction

How many of you have gone on a trip this summer?

Last, April I went to a special meeting for pastors in Lancaster, PA and we had to drive a long way to get there. We went through West Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania to get there. We made several stops along the way and saw a lot of cool places.

One of the key items that we took on our trip was a special map that AAA prepared just for us so that we could know the right roads to go on and the right exits to take. Without the right directions we would have gotten lost very easily.

The same is true with the way that we live our lives. All this week we have been teaching you about Jesus and how He came to earth to die for our sins. Tonight, I want to share with you some of the directions that Jesus gave us so that we could find our way to heaven.

Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6

Jesus said that He is the way. This means that He is the only way to get to God and that He is pointing out the way to get to heaven. Jesus has shown us the way to find God.

Jesus also says that He is the truth. He means that what He has said is absolutely true and that you can trust Him. He will never let you down.

Jesus said that He is the life. Jesus died for your sins, He was raised from the dead to live forever and He has promised that if you believe in Him; He will give you eternal life.

Tonight, I want to show you the way to find Jesus. If you would like to ask Jesus into your heart, slip out of your seat and come down to the altar and I’ll pray with you.

Prayer

Dear God,

I know that I have sinned.

I believe that Jesus died to pay for my sins and came to life again.

Right now I receive your everlasting life. Thank you for giving me new life in Christ.

In Jesus’ name

Amen.
