Having The Vision Of God

Summary: 5 obstacles that keep us from having the vision of God.
2 Kinds of people
First – Single minded— LIKE ME
I can do one thing really good
Give me 2 things 1 will be done pretty good
Give me 3 things— NONE OF IT WILL GET DONE
I lose vision– When I have too much
Second- Multipled Minded “Multi Taskers”
Not happy unless soing 10 things at 1 time
All multi taskers are – People who haven’t come to grips with being single minded
Lady Driving... Make-Up, Cell Phone, Slapping kid back seat, Swerving all over road
She’s Late, She’s not focused, Not considerate, Not SMART
BUT SHE’S MULTI TASKING
She loses vision from being overwhelmed
Neither is Healthy... We’re too easily distracted... TAKE OUR EYES OFF PRIZE
5 obstacles keeping us from having the vision of God
1. All we can see is the Here and Now
Today is today, Whne tomm here – Today will be yesterday
We have to learn to see farther than today
Go on a Trip... You don’t walk out sit in the car... AWESOME
You have a destination.. Finish Line
If you don’t have a destination
1. You’ll never go anywhere
2. You’ll just wander around
You don’t wander.. Psalm 37:23 The steps of a good (righteous) man are ordered by the LORD, And He delights in his way.
Churches– Hate change... worship dress, caps, tatoos, earrings,
They either see the past.. OR THE HERE AND NOW
2. We’re Caught up in today’s atmosphere
Don’t let the tone of today... Determine Tomorrow
Life is like the weather... Always Changing
You’re like meteoroligist... Always wrong about what’s coming
You can worry and toil.. It don’t help
Matthew 6: 27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? // NO thot of tomm
God knows your heart, your desires
He wants to give a tomorrow.. Don’t get caught up todays atmosphere
HAVE A VISION FOR TOMORROW
3. We Have a limited perspective of our won abilities
God will never ask you to do something he doesn’t equip you FOR
I can’t do.... school
.... marriage
..... Parenting
.... Submission
God’s equipped you........ DON’T LIMIT YOURSELF
Concerning Abraham... Romans 4: 20 He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, 21 and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform.
Hear stories .. Mom lifting cars... Where does that come from
Moses... Not me.. Not qualified, Not eloquent, Stutter
When God call you to be the deliverer. .He equips you
Be confident in yourself... Be Confident in the power of God
4. We’re Easily Diverted By Today’s Losses
You can take today’s losses— BE DONE..... BE BETTER
I’ve seen people FAIL & QUIT...... DON”T QUIT
“BUT I FAILED.” ... That’s why God made tomorrow
Remember Yesterday’s victories... Not today’s failures
1 Samuel 17: 34 But David said to Saul, “Your servant used to keep his father’s sheep, and when a lion or a bear came and took a lamb out of the flock, 35 I went out after it and struck it, and delivered the lamb from its mouth; and when it arose against me, I caught it by its beard, and struck and killed it. 36 Your servant has killed both lion and bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, seeing he has defied the armies of the living God.”—
The army said Goliath was TOO big to hit
David said, "He’s too big to miss"
5. Our total motivation is the immediate
You have to have a bigger vision than that..
ALL TODAY IS... YOUR OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE TOMORROW BETTER
Griping about Marriage, Jobs, Kids, Life
Did you do something today...... To make those better tomorrow
Immediate or Ultimate
Marriage’s fall apart... Want immediate results
Work and God will Give you Ultimate Results
Year and Half ago... Crying living room
Pent, Bapt., Staff, Workers, Family, Leaders
She looked @ me... sweet.. You’re the Pastor FIX IT
My vision was on the immediate.. Missy’s was on the ultimate
Don’t worry too much about the immediate
Concentrate on the ULTIMATE that God has for You
