Summary: An Evangelistic Message

Five Things God Doesn’t Know

Romans 8:28-39

Introduction

One of the attributes or characteristics of God is omniscience, He is all knowing. God knows everything. This morning though, I’ve titled my sermon, “Five Things God doesn’t Know.”

I. God Doesn’t Know A Sinner He Doesn’t Love

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Rom. 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

1. God’s love is beyond understanding – Lazarus Jn. 11:32-36

2. God’s love is inseparable – Rom. 8:35

3. God’s love is unconquerable – Rom. 8:37

II. God Doesn’t Know A Sin That He Doesn’t Hate

1. He hated Adam’s sin

a. No more fellowship

b. Man banished from the garden

2. He hated David’s sin - I Sam. 12:1-14

III. God Doesn’t Know Any Way Of Salvation Except The Way Of The Cross

1. It had to be the right Person - Jesus

a. Jesus was God

b. Jesus was also Man

c. “He who knew no sin became sin for us.”

2. It had to be the right Death

a. The just for the unjust

b. He was the sin bearer

c. He was the “lamb of God”

3. Jesus is the Name whereby we must be saved

Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given

among men, whereby we must be saved.

IV. God Doesn’t Know Any Way Man Can Save Himself

Eph. 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: [9] Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

1. Adam and Eve tried

a. tried to hide their sin– fig leaves

b. tried to hide from God – in the garden

2. Cain tried

He offered the fruit of the ground, Abel brought the lamb.

3. False teachers and preachers today

Teach works not grace – “Do good and be Good”

V. God Doesn’t Know Any Time Better To Be Saved Than Today

Isaiah 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

I first enjoyed this sermon when I was a youngster and found it in my very first sermon outline book. Back then, however, it was called "Seven things that God doesn't know." Apparently it still "preaches" today and remains a good lesson.
