Summary: To better understand the Anointing, we must better understand the Anointed One: The Messiah.

Isaiah 10:27

Psalm 119 (176 = 176/8 = 22). Hebrew Olive Bet has 22 Letters.

Messiah (Mah-She-Oct) Mem Shean Het

Mem = V97; Shean = V161; Het = V57

Isaiah 10:27 “…and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.”

The Anointing: Jesus is our Messiah.

The Messiah is the Anointed One!

So then to better understand the Anointing, we must better understand the Anointed One: The Messiah.

Mah-She-Oct comes from the root meaning “to smear”: Jeremiah 22:14

In the ancient world olive oil was a very important commodity.

It was used in cooking as well as a disinfectant; No shepherd worth his salt would be without it.

The shepherd would “smear” it on his sheep’s injuries.

The verb (action) form of Mah-She-Oct is translated as “anointed”: Exodus 29:7 (in regard to the “smearing” of oil on the head).

Isaiah 53:1-5 “1- Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed? 2-For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, [there is] no beauty that we should desire him. 3- He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were [our] faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. 4- Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. 5- But he [was] wounded for our transgressions, [he was] bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace [was] upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”

He was “smeared” for us!

The making of the Anointing Oil was a PROCESS.

First you have to find a seed for an Olive Tree.

Then you have to plant it; care for it; nurture it.

Then it must produce fruit.

The Olive must be picked.

After all this there is still no oil.

The oil only flows when the ripened Olive has been placed in the PRESS and PRESSED!

Then cometh the oil!

The outside of the Olive is called the “flesh”.

Jesus said, “…can you drink of the cup that I drink of?” In Mark 10:38

The song says: “Use me Lord, oh please don’t refuse me, surely there is a work I can do.”

We say, “we want to be like Him”.

We can’t be like Him, until we have been misused, abused, falsely accused.

Slapped around and abused.

You can’t be resurrected until you’ve been dead.

Before the oil flows in the 23rd Psalm you first have to walk through the valley of the shadow of death.

Why?

Because no oil flows until you are PRESSED in the PRESS!

The Anointing Breaks the Yoke!

It’s because of the Anointing!!!
