The Second Word: Salvation Series
Contributed by Freddy Fritz on Mar 24, 2005
The second word of our Savior on the cross is directed to one of the thieves crucified with him. An analysis of Jesus’ second word on the cross, as set forth in Luke 23:43, teaches us about salvation.
Introduction Jesus was crucified between two thieves. One of the thieves mocked Jesus. But the other thief rebuked him. Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” Jesus answered him, “I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise” (Luke 23:42-43). Herbert ...read more

"I Thirst" Series
Contributed by Kevin Cummins on Jun 9, 2003
"I thirst" is a statement from the cross that was only recorded by John in his gospel. I believe there was at least three reasons why God inspired to John to record that statment. This sermons looks at those three reasons.
Last week our fourth statement from the cross that we looked at was perhaps the most agonizing statement of all. I believe as Christ took on the sins of the world, that sin that was upon Him separated Him from His Father and in that time of spiritual agony He cried out, “My God, my God, why ...read more

The Fourth Word From The Cross: Anguish Series
Contributed by Norm Beckett on Apr 18, 2001
When we feel most betrayed, Jesus understands, for he experienced total abandonment. When we feel most alone, the truth and reality is that we are not.
THE FOURTH WORD FROM THE CROSS - Anguish "At about three o’clock Jesus cried out with a loud shout, "Eli, Eli, lema sabachtani?" which means, "My God, My God why did you abandon me" (Matthew 27: 46). Running The Race With God Beside Me: Eric Liddell’s Journey Of Faith - Part 2
By Duncan Hamilton on Mar 27, 2024
Liddell wasn’t for sale at any price. He told one congregation that ‘the greatest danger was victory,’ which he further defined as ‘bringing a man up to a level above the strength of his character’. He appealed to another to ‘keep sport free from anything that tends to lower its purity and value’ and to ‘engage in it’ for ‘the sport’s sake alone’. He revealed to a third that no cheering from an athletics crowd had given as much pleasure as his religion.

Running The Race With God Beside Me: Eric Liddell’s Journey Of Faith - Part 1
By Duncan Hamilton on Mar 26, 2024
For all of us it can be difficult to grasp a sense of something when it is actually happening; often comprehension comes only when it is over. Not, though, for Eric Liddell. He could always identify precisely when his life changed forever. It was April 6, 1923. The time was shortly after 9pm. On that day and during that hour, Liddell became a public speaker for God.
